We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Developer Lead with a strong emphasis on database expertise. In this role, you will lead backend development efforts, guide the technical direction of our projects, and mentor a team of talented developers. Your deep knowledge of database technologies will be critical in shaping our backend architecture, ensuring scalability, and driving continuous improvement. You will serve as a subject matter expert in database technologies and backend development.

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Developer Lead with a strong emphasis on database expertise. In this role, you will lead backend development efforts, guide the technical direction of our projects, and mentor a team of talented developers. Your deep knowledge of database technologies will be critical in shaping our backend architecture, ensuring scalability, and driving continuous improvement. You will serve as a subject matter expert in database technologies and backend development.
This is a remote role in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of sophisticated backend solutions, focusing on database optimization and performance.
- Champion microservices with asynchronous communication and adopt cutting-edge technologies.
- Architect scalable and secure backend solutions that meet the needs of our growing user base.
- Ensure code quality through code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing.
- Continuously refactor for efficiency and embed risk and security controls in your designs.
- Design and engineer solutions with a strategic focus on database performance, risk management, and security.
- Participate in the strategic development of platform architecture and infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on database systems.
- Ensure seamless alignment of production infrastructure with feature releases during SDLC cycles.
- Conduct risk assessments and design analyses for new business requirements.
- Collaborate with peer teams to deliver successful integration points.
- Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our backend systems, particularly databases, remain modern and efficient.
- Extensive experience with database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB etc.)
- Experienced Technology Lead with broad knowledge and skills across Technology and Business
- Extensive experience in backend microservices and databases
- Should have led and demonstrated transformation initiatives in complex global environment and progressive companies
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in hands on leadership with technology delivery, design, and development.
- Detailed experienced in Agile development teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of developers
- Proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, or Node j.s
- Exemplary communication and stakeholder management skills
- Leading by example, with hands on engineering attitude
- Excellent organizational skills to coordinate multiple parallel deliveries
- Experience working on Front of technology platforms
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of developers.
